Motorists who travel to and from Ruddington via Clifton have found themselves delayed again today (Monday 6th March 2023) – after Severn Trent were called in to fix a leaking water valve on Clifton Road near the junction with Old Station Drive.
Drivers are advised these two-way temporary traffic lights are likely to remain in place until this Wednesday 8th – by which time it’s hoped the necessary repair or replacement will be completed. It comes shortly after a gas leak outside Hilltop Cottage on Clifton Lane which also saw 24-hour two-way temporary traffic lights delaying traffic for over a week along this same key access route into and out of Ruddington.
Elsewhere in our village, previously announced carriageway patching work is due to begin on various streets around Ruddington’s eastern estate this Thursday (9th March). Road closures and parking restrictions are scheduled as follows:-
- Abingdon Drive: 9th – 16th March
- Upper Cannan: 17th-22nd March
- Lower Canaan: 23rd – 24th March
- Woodley Street: 27th – 31st March
Easthorpe Street, near its junction with High Street, also has Severn Trent utility repair and maintenance work from 13th to 16th March, with stop/go boards in use.
Severn Trent is then due to be working on Pasture Lane, between the Junction of Roe Gardens and Cooper Gardens, on Tuesday 28th March between 7.00am and 4.00pm to repair/replace a defective manhole frame and covers – with two-way temporary traffic signals in use.
On Wednesday 29th March, from 9.30am until 3.30pm, BT Openreach will be outside 201 Loughborough Road. ‘Stop and Go boards’ will be used whilst work is carried out to the overhead network.
An announcement is expected shortly about the long awaited S278 junction improvement works at the Loughborough Road/Kirk Lane/Flawforth Lane junction – with ‘Phase 1’ likely to be over Easter and ‘Phase 2’ during the summer school holidays.
Then there’s further patching work, meaning residential street closures in the St John’s Road area, planned at the end of April.
Looking ahead to next year, National Highways has announced the long planned major roadworks to enlarge both the Nottingham Knight Island and Wheatcroft Island on the A52 should begin in September 2024. Find more details >>HERE<<.
